"Go Forth & Die" is an 8-week Bible study for small groups and individuals.
According to Heifetz and Linsky, the root of the term, “lead” is Indo-European and means “to go forth, die.” Is your leader willing to die, literally or figuratively, for his or her subordinates? Are you willing to do the same when you are in places of influence?
Much has been written about leadership in business, organization, church, and home settings. Shalom is a Hebrew term that is translated “peace.” But it is much broader and more complex than that. It is a peace beyond comprehension.
I have talked with many who long for a place of shalom when they rise early and head off to the office. I have also talked to those who long for peace in their family. Shalom is a good and biblical word for what we want in our homes, workplaces, and churches. But how do we get it?
Charlotte Dehnert wrote for and edited the People section of the Wyoming State Journal for over 17 years. Her articles were read throughout the mountain west as she chronicled life in her small community with such notable citizens as Paul Petzoldt of the National Outdoor Leadership School and Lester Hunt, former Governor and Senator of Wyoming.
"Columns" includes 110 of her own chosen articles for publishing prior to her passing in 2023.
Charlotte Dehnert stopped short of a nursing degree in the 1940s. What she really wanted to do was write. So, in the 1960s she began writing a periodic column for the Wyoming State Journal in Lander, Wyoming. In the mid-70s she moved into a full-time position providing weekly feature stories and editing the "gossip" page called "People" for the Journal. Her columns were full of small-town life and life musings.
After 17 years, she followed her passion and completed a degree in English from the University of Wyoming in 1982. At the age of 91 she published "Lester Calloway Hunt: He Put Wyoming's Bucking Bronco on the Map."
Bill Sniffen, the owner and editor, said when she retired from the Journal in the 1980s, "The Journal’s People section became the pacesetter for newspapers around the region under Charlotte’s leadership. It grew until it often covered most of four pages of the Thursday issue."

The people of God knew there would be a day when they were free. God had promised them. The Gospel was a present reality for those people before its time.
But when Jesus came in the flesh, humbling Himself in the incarnation, Gospel freedom erupted with the knowledge that we were truly free.
Free from the condemning work of the Law.
Free from the slavery under sin which we suffered.
Free to live in the fullness of life eternal.
Kelly Dehnert’s "To Africa On a Lark” is his family’s memoirs of mission work in Malawi, Africa. In the fiery furnace of their experiences, God molded their understanding of missions, family, community, and leadership.
Jeanine Jackson, US Ambassador said, “. . . a wonderful book.”
Dr. Nelson Jennings, editor of Global Missions said, “[To Africa On a Lark] is extremely readable . . . The stories are quite engaging.”
The “Missions Edition" equips the new or short-term missionary with valuable discussion questions and Bible study to be better prepared for being a messenger of the Gospel cross-culturally.
Brian Carlisle, former missionary to Africa said, “[To Africa On a Lark] would be helpful to anyone considering any type of meaningful engagement in a cross-cultural setting. Missions committees would benefit by the “insider perspective” it offers and could help them be more wise and thoughtful in the works they support and encourage. Also, anyone thinking about being called to missions would benefit by reading this.”
U.S. Senator Lester Hunt’s amazing career, spurred by the baseball craze where he had a starring role as a handsome and talented pitcher, spanned four of the United States’ most tumultuous decades of the 20th Century. They included two world wars, the Great Depression and the red scare of McCarthyism, called the “Nightmare Decade.” Even Hunt’s formidable political skills as a personable Democrat in Republican territory could not overcome the ugliness of McCarthyism and he became one of its victims.
